Obviously anyone who hasn't played in a West Ham win at Anfield is ruled out immediately.
Oi Farah! No!

Re: Mo Farah - Greatest Ever?
Greatest ever is ridiculous idea. Seems like a decent man, but:

1. He is Somalian. Simple. One of "those people" we now have time for?
2. Spends most of his life outside the UK
3. I'd rather vote for Julian Dicks. And that's pushing it!

I'm not saying what he has achieved is great , but greatest ever British sportsman no way

Re: Mo Farah - Greatest Ever?
I agree medals are important but when you are talking of the greatest ever sportsman if you are a runner to be considered surely you have to be faster or close to your peers
As I said earlier his best times are way down the list all time and some way off in actual times

I do not think they matter as much, ask Paula Radcliffe if she would rather have the record or the title, in fact every single athlete would laugh at the question.

I think because the 5.000 and 10.000 are such difficult events the tactics come into it much more than most other races .

He broke the two mile world record by a second so he has broken one.

Re: Mo Farah - Greatest Ever?
Medals count for more than records.

Everyone knows that.

Ask any athlete would he rather have one world record or one Olympic/World medal and see what answer you get.

Re: Mo Farah - Greatest Ever?
Surely records count as a comparison to past and present, like I said before his times are well below world record standard
He is beating a weak field.........Larry Holmes held the championship for a record length of time.....is he one of the greatest boxers? NO

El Scorchio 7:26 Sat Aug 29
Re: Mo Farah - Greatest Ever?
He needs a world record or two and to retain his Olympic titles to be considered the best.

He's right up there though, even if he retires today.

Seb Coe
2 olympic golds at 1500 metres in 1980 and 84 and one european gold medal in 1986 and a few world records.

Mo Farah
2 Olympic golds in 2012 at 5000. and 10.000, 5 World championship Gold medals 5 European Gold medals.

No competition you ask any athlete and they will tell you records can be broken but a Gold medal hangs eternal.

Re: Mo Farah - Greatest Ever?
I take your point Hairy, Mo Farah is a great athlete, no question about that at all but Coe's amazing 800m world record on top of his medals just about sneaks it.

If Farah wins the Marathon - London or Olympics - then I'd put him in the elite list of your Wiggins/Redgraves/Comptons

It is Sad to say but even if he won running backwards some would still pull out another name.
